Neurosurgeons are doctors who have specialized training in the evaluation and treatment of the nervous system of adults and children. This includes disorders of the brain, skull, spinal cord, spine, discs, peripheral nerves, and blood vessels related to the nervous system. Every neurosurgeon in our group has extensive training and evaluates patients in all areas of neurosurgery, including back and spine. Furthermore, each clinician in ING has a subspecialty interest in one of the following areas: Interventional Neuroradiologists have specialized training in the nonsurgical treatment of blood vessel disorders of the brain and neck. They also treat some fractures of the spine. Physiatrists have specialized training in the treatment of neck and back pain, as well as the rehabilitation of neurological injuries. Rehabilitation includes treatment of spinal cord injuries, impairments from brain injuries, and strokes. Neuropsychologists specialize in identifying the psychological effects of neurological disorders including brain injury, infections, tumors, and dementia. Specialized testing of children to identify emotional/behavioral disorders is also performed. Nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, and certified scrub technicians assist ING physicians in providing complete care to our patients through evaluation, treatment, and follow-up. |
