Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
Recovery from a neurological injury requires a very different set of skills (and training program) than is needed for the diagnostic and early disease management phases of a neurological problem. Knowing the naturally history of recovery permits a physiatrist to design a very specific rehabilitation program for each patient's unique circumstances. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other recovery aids are just a few of the treatment modalities that comprise a comprehensive recovery plan.
